Meet the Mayor of Perpignan

We are happy to welcome M. Louis Aliot, Mayor of Perpignan, and his delegation, Madame Veronique Lopez Aliot, Director of Communications, and Madame Laurence Herlin Lemaire, Director of Tourism.

Louis Aliot was elected Mayor of Perpignan in the municipal elections of June 2020. He has been a resident of Perpignan since 2009. A Doctor of Law and former lecturer in public law at the University of Toulouse, he established his law practice in Perpignan in 2010.

His political career includes serving as a regional councilor for Languedoc-Roussillon in 2010, a Member of the European Parliament in 2014, and a Member of the National Assembly for Pyrénées-Orientales in 2017, where he was part of the Defense and Armed Forces Commission.

Since January 16, 2011, Mr. Aliot has also held the position of Vice President of the National Rally (formerly the National Front) and is a member of the party’s Executive Office.

On July 16, 2021, Mayor Aliot married Véronique Lopez, a renowned contemporary painter from Perpignan, known professionally as Vebeca. Mrs. Lopez Aliot works in Perpignan’s communication and events department while also managing her own art studio in the city center. She continues to pursue her artistic career both in France and internationally.
